Himachal Pradesh


Himachal Pradesh is a beautiful state of India which is positioned in the lap of great Himalayan series. Himachal Pradesh is almost situated mountainous on Himalayas. Its range of altitude is from 460 to 6600 meters to sea level. You can envision from this difference of altitude that, there must be difference between seasonal environments. The state can be divided in to two regions which may be called as southern and northern regions. Southern part is almost plain, that’s why the temperature is almost as the other plains. The northern part have a nearly temperature as southern in the summer but in winter season there is a high snow fall and extremely cold.

The main tourist places of interest are

  • Shimla: It is the capital of Himachal Pradesh. This is the major resort of India. this is a place where all over year tourists are approaches for the holidays. This place is also popular for handicrafts, wood, metalwork, shawls, pullover, toys and Tibetan carpets and pickles. Best way to purchase is through malls, Tibetan bazaar and Lakkar bazaar and lower bazaar.
  • Manali: This place is in the northern side of Kullu Valley. It is near the Beas or Vyaas River. This place is popular among tourists for paragliding, rock climbing, zorbing and snow scootering. In winter snow covers the area, which look white bed sheet. Physiographically it is on Ladakh road. You can get trip of Hidimba temple, Vashist Hot water spring, Solang valley, Rozy falls and Guari Shankar temple in Dashal village.
  • Dharmsala: This is another hill station of Himachal Pradesh. you can also enjoy the trip to Naam Art gallery, Palampur, Bhagsunag fall, Kunal Pathari, Dharamkot etc. the place is popular for trekking. The place have majority of Tibetans. Dharmsala is a good place to try Tibetan food and beverages. This is Headquarter of Dalai Lama.

Himachal Pradesh is circlet with numerous hill stations which are scrumptiously cool in summer season. HP i.e. Himachal Pradesh proliferated in wildlife with rare species of animals and birds. Fishing also is a great attraction for visitors. The river like Chandra Bhaga or Chenab and Ravi offers ideal fishing ground. The state also offers adventure sports like skilling, trekking, water rafting and mountaineering, cycle’s expedition, hang gliding and paragliding. There sports are held at snow capped mountains, rivers and forests. Agriculture and horticulture is mainstay of the state economy. Himachal Pradesh apples are very popular among India. That’s why the state is renowned as the “Apple land of India”.

The main language of Himachal Pradesh is Himachali (Pahari), Hindi and English. The temperature of state in summer days varies from 15° to 30° C and in winter season 0° to 20° C. The best time to visit is April to August and in December and January.

GobindSagar for boating in the lake.
Kyelang for Buddhist monastery. Also for frescoes last town before the picturesque Lahaul and Spiiti valleys.
Bajaura for temples and orchards. It is nearly 15 Km from Kullu.
Jawala Mukhi for temples and festival of flame goddess.
ManiKaran for hot springs and Sikh Gurudwara and Shiv Mandir.
Baijnath for pilgrim centre and temples. This is nearly 25 Km from Kullu.
Kalpa for handlooms shawls, folk dances, fauna and forest flora.
Bilaspur for caves and temples. You can visit to view of Anandpur Sahib lake.
Kangra for fort and ancient town. Also can visit for miniature paintings and temples.
Mandi for river side hill station. This is also a pilgrim centre for temples. you can make your trip also to floating islands and sculptures.
Brahmaur for ancient capital and temples.
Kasauli can be visited for hill station.
Mashobra for hiking. it is also a good picnic spot.
Chail for palaces. This hill station have highest cricket ground in the world.
Chail sanctuary is a place for wildlife and animal lovers.
Khajiar for Lake Side valley. This place have golf course.
Khoksar for gateway to the lahaul and Spiti valleys. This place is also called Land of the Lamas.
Nagar for temples. This place has Roerich Museum.
Naldehra is popular for golf.
Chamba for gateway to Tisa and Pangh valleys. There are some temples, museum, gardens and murals and paintings.
Kotgarh for orchards.
Naina Davi for Hindu pilgrims centre.
Dalhousie is a hill station and popular for picnic spot. You can also purchase handicrafts from here.
Kufri have facility for winter sports.
Nahan hill station is popular for temples.
Narkanda is nice place to view Himalaya’s peak.
Trilokinath is a Buddhist pilgrims centre. Also popular for monastery.
Theog place is for fishing.
Tatapani is a Hindi word for exploring the place for Sulphur springs.
Sonal is also a hill station in Himachal Pradesh.
Nurpur have forts and handlooms.
Palampur is hill station popular for Plantations.
Paonta sahib is a Sikh pilgrim. This place has some forts.
Rewalsar is sacred lake for Hindus, Buddhists and Sikhs.
